Shore Based Fire Fighting
SBFF is recommended for officers, ratings and any personnel with specific duties and responsibilities related to cargo and cargo equipment on tankers. SBFF covers: training required in regulation V/1 paragraph 1; and training requirements of regulation VI/1 of STCW. Objective Trainees will be able to familiarize themselves with the preventive emergency procedures and fire fighting systems and resources typically provided along a tanker terminal/port. Specialized Training in Chemical Tankers
STCT is recommended for masters, chief engineers, officers and any person with immediate responsibility for the loading, discharging and care in transit or handling of cargo. This course takes full account of section A-V/1 of the STCW code and is patterned after the IMO model course 1.04. Objective Trainees will undergo a specialized program appropriate to their duties, including chemical tanker safety, pollution prevention, operational practice and obligations under applicable laws and regulations. Dangerous, Hazardous, and Harmful Cargoes
DHHC is for seafaring personnel responsible for handling of packaged dangerous, hazardous and harmful cargoes aboard ships and shore based personnel responsible for the transport of dangerous goods by sea. Objective Trainees will be able to contribute to the preparation and execution of safe carriage of dangerous goods and marine pollutants by sea, understand legal implications of and correctly apply or verify compliance. Marpol II
MARPOL II is designed to explain the criteria used for categorizing noxious liquid substances according to the hazard that they represent to the environment, ship’s type in which they may be carried and the conditions under which may be discharged. Objective Trainees will be able to: Correctly identify categories of noxious liquid substances offered for shipment; Assess potential pollution impact and construction features required of chemical tankers in normal and emergency circumstances; Apply principles and procedures to prevent pollution; Avoid ship delays in port arising from port state action.
