Advanced Course in Various On-Board Welding Processes

This course focuses on the various skill sets needed by a designated welder on-board a vessel.  The course tackles the common problems and jobs on-board expected to be completed and remedied by the ship’s welder as well as the corresponding, common welding processes needed to fulfill these duties.

Objective
Delegates will be able to perform basic and common ship welding duties relating to:

  • Gas welding of sheet metal
  • Electric arc welding of plate and pipe in fixed position
  • Basic welding work on stainless steel plate
  • Welding with aluminum electrodes
  • TIG welding of carbon steel
  • Brazing of york albro pipe (seawater pipes)
  • Cast iron repair
  • Basic MIG welding
  • Using a plasma cutting

Entry Requirements
Delegate must have prior experience in basic arc and gas welding.
