Description ECDIS is patterned after the IMO model course 1.27 and will provides training in the basic theory and use of electronic chart display and information systems. Training comprises all safety relevant aspects which goes beyond the use of operational controls and in which a functional approach is maintained. Objective Trainees will be able to: Operate ECDIS equipment; Acquire and develop a knowledge and understanding of the basic principles governing the safe operation of ECDIS, including data, their presentation and system-related limitations and potential dangers; Assess errors, inaccuracies and ambiguities caused by improper data management.
